入读伯克利加州大学（University of California, Berkeley）
Hi there! How are you? My name is Bei Bei Liu. Today, I want to share my personal experience in the United States with all of you. I hope it can be helpful to you. I am going to talk about it from two aspects. One is from academic life and another is from personal life.
When talking about academic life: I have been in the United States for two years. When thinking back two years ago, I was just like you. I went to AAE in Guangzhou for several months and studied English there. With the help of AAE I got my visa to America very successfully, and I studied in AAE in San Francisco for several months and transferred to the College of San Mateo. It’s a community college, the college right now I am involved in. Here, I chose my major as business administration, and right now is the spring semester. This is my last semester here because after this semester, I’m going to transfer again to the University of California. As you all know, University of California is a very good, famous University system in the United States. I applied to five of them: UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, UC San Diego, and UC Irvine. I’m not sure which one I am going to because I won’t know the result until the end of April. But right now, I got accepted by UC Davis because I signed a TAG with UC Davis. A TAG is a kind of program in our community college. If you have a high GPA, like 3.5 or something and can meet the general educational requirement then you can sign a TAG. Then, your university is guaranteed from your community college. So, it is a very good benefit for us: like international students, community college students.
This is my whole brief academic life. Sounds very easy, right? As we all know, it is not easy at all. I like to say your choice is very good because I like this kind of style from language school to community college and to university. It is just like step by step; you will improve step by step. Not just going to university directly and knowing nothing about it. So, I highly encourage all of you to study English harder in AAE. This is our basic skill as you all know because professors in the college and in the university are just going to talk in English. Nobody is going to understand Chinese, right? So, English is so basic, is a very basic skill, is very important for you to cover all of them. Not all of them cover as much as possible that will help you in the community college too. If you can do well in community college you can transfer to a good university. So, good luck to all of you about the academic life.
So, I like to talk about personal life. I have to say about this part: I want to say thank you to AAE. I appreciate it because I actually don’t have any relatives, friends in the United States before. I just came here with my classmates in AAE, but I feel safe. I feel okay about it because they are all taking care of me. AAE, here, there are many students in AAE. We are a group. It’s just like a family. We take care of each other. We help each other and especially the help I got from AAE is very important for us. They will help me rent an apartment, to buy a car, things like that. Without them, I don’t know what I’m going to do. As you all know, I’m going to transfer to university. Right now, I feel okay with life in the United States because of their help. I know I’m going to deal with my new life in university without them but this is a learning process, improvement process because their help made me know more about America, made me get use to the lifestyle in the United States. So, now I become who I am. I really appreciate this. So, I just want you to all know you made a very good choice, and you can learn a lot in AAE. And good luck! Try fighting! Try harder! And come join us in our AAE big group in the United States. Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
